Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about buying, selling, and using BHF Auctions.
How do I register to bid?
Create an account using your email address. If identity verification is required, the next step will appear in your account dashboard.
Is there a fee to register?
Registration is free. Fees are only charged when you successfully purchase a lot (buyer's premium of 12.5% plus 5% UAE VAT on the premium).
What is the buyer's premium?
The buyer's premium is 12.5% of the hammer price (the winning bid amount). This is standard practice at major auction houses and covers cataloguing, marketing, and platform services.
How does VAT work?
UAE Value Added Tax of 5% is applied to the buyer's premium only, not the hammer price. Your invoice will show the full breakdown.
Can I bid without completing identity verification?
You may browse and follow lots. The platform will tell you if verification is required before a bid can be accepted.
What happens if I win a lot?
The result and invoice will appear in your account after the sale is closed and reviewed. Follow the payment and collection instructions supplied with the invoice.
Can I retract a bid?
No. All bids are binding and cannot be retracted once placed. Please bid carefully.
How do I consign an item for sale?
Open the Consign page and provide a description, clear images, condition details and any documents you have. Submitting an item does not guarantee acceptance.
What commission does BHF Auctions charge sellers?
Seller fees are confirmed in writing before an item is accepted. Do not proceed if the estimate, reserve, fees or other terms are unclear.
How are items delivered?
Delivery and collection options depend on the item, its location and destination. Confirm cost, insurance and import requirements before making arrangements.
What if my item doesn't sell?
If a lot does not meet its reserve price, it is 'passed' (unsold). We will discuss options with you including re-offering in a future sale, adjusting the reserve, or returning the item.
How do I ask about a lot?
Use the Contact page and include the lot number and your specific question. Ask before bidding if an answer may affect your decision.
How is my personal data handled?
